I'm sorry, but Flossie is no name for a hurricane. It's just wrong! And if we've got hurricane Nan coming up, then "something is very, very wrong here." (to paraphrase Al Pacino in "And Justice For All")
Not that Flossie and Nan were in that film. they are, of course, two of the Bobbsey Twins. Nowhere near a hurricane on the naughty scale.

I agree Flossie seems so, well flossie.
Such a TH father's word as in "what a flossie jacket".
there are lots of fine names for hurricanes and other storms, but flossie is not among them. it's just one step away from kitty, susie or mindy. all bad names for storms. None should be in the diminutive.
Hurricane Ernie? TS Mikey?
I need to check the names. I can't wait until 2030 when they become Hurricane Madison, whitney, chelsea and Justin!
