I don't think any more needs to be said about the following....but go ahead and say it!

Isn't there a quarter store somewhere.

What do you wear to a dollar store?

I'm going to have to check it out! I see a legitimate dissertation proposal in some esoteric made up major at a small liberal arts university in the midwest.

you do NOT want to see (or get too close to) me at Home Depot-SCARY, as I am usually running out mid-project for supplies

my grandfather would never approve, as he would always have a shower before 'going to town' (town was half a mile away)

i have made many trips to the hardware store attired in outfits that would scare small children, and kill my mother. Thank god she's already dead.

my favorites were this feb, during the great storm drain back up. Standing outside for hours, soaked to the skin, and trotting back and forth for fix it items. As Tony Trischka once said to me: "The drowned rat look. It's not a good one for you."

I wanna know what she wears to Wal-Mart!

What is proper Wal-Mart attire??

(I have also been known to shop in outfits and/or hair that should never have seen the light of day. But now, my kid's usually with me, and I try not to embarrass her.)

I can just hear it: Sasha's first sentence "I don't know who she is."

as for proper walmart attire, i don't know either. But then, there really isn't one nearby. I have shopped at walmart when I've been on the road and needed batteries, a watch, water, something NOW and had no idea where to go.
It's a problem: i hate that walmart has gone into areas and driven the small guys out of business. On the other hand, I don't have to drive an hour to find the items I need at prices that are competitive. I understand why they do so well, I just wish people had more options.

And i do not approve of the latest cuts to bene's and hours for part time employees.
I won't shop there, but i won't condemn anyone who feels they have no choice. But if you've got a choice, exercise.

i did sell my walmart stock. I couldn't, in good conscience, hold it any longer.

Word!!!

I remember when I first came here to go to college. And they took all of us girls ('cuz it was a girls school) on the bus to the mall. And my roommate wore SWEATS! MY GOSH! Where I came from (the hills baby, the hills), we did NOT wear sweats to the mall! We dressed properly to go the mall!!! I was appalled!!!!

of course, I think we're all of "a certain age." I have a feeling my 30 year old niece and her friends may see things a bit differently.

along with "it's ok to park in the fire lane, because I'm only going in for a minute."
